What is Hair Transplantation?
Hair transplantation is a surgical procedure used to provide a natural and permanent solution for individuals experiencing hair loss. For people who suffer hair loss due to genetic factors, aging, stress, hormonal imbalances, or accidents, hair transplantation helps restore their aesthetic appearance and confidence. The procedure involves transferring healthy hair follicles from a donor area to the recipient area using the latest and most advanced techniques.
Hair Transplant Process
-
Consultation and Planning
The hair transplant process begins with an evaluation of the patient’s hair loss problem and a discussion of their expectations. During this stage, the doctor examines the patient’s hair structure, degree of hair loss, and the density of the donor area. The most suitable hair transplant method is determined, and the number of grafts and the recipient area are planned.
-
Preparation
In the preparation phase before hair transplantation, the patient’s overall health is reviewed, and necessary tests are conducted. The type of anesthesia to be used during the hair transplant (usually local anesthesia) is determined. The donor and recipient areas are marked and prepared for the procedure.
-
Extraction of Hair Follicles
The hair transplant begins with the extraction of hair follicles from the donor area. This process is performed using either the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) or DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) method. In the FUE method, hair follicles are extracted one by one with a micromotor device, while in the DHI method, a special implanter pen is used to directly extract the hair follicles. Care is taken to prevent damage to the follicles during this stage.
-
Opening of Channels
In the recipient area, microchannels are opened where the hair follicles will be placed. The angle, direction, and depth of these channels are adjusted to mimic natural hair growth. This step is critical for ensuring the transplanted hair achieves a natural and aesthetic appearance.
-
Implantation of Hair Follicles
The extracted hair follicles are carefully placed into the opened channels one by one. In the FUE method, the follicles are placed into the channels using micro forceps, while in the DHI method, the implanter pen is used to directly insert the follicles into the recipient area. The proper angle and direction of the implanted follicles are carefully monitored during this stage.

Recovery and Results
The recovery process after hair transplantation is typically quick. Mild redness and scabbing may be observed in the recipient area during the first few days. It is important to rest during the first week and follow the post-operative care instructions provided by the doctor. The transplanted hair follicles usually begin to grow within 3-4 months, and full results are typically seen within 12-18 months.
